Registration is optional for users, but required to contribute and edit
Everyone is welcome to use to Vincentian Encyclopedia, but because of problems with malicious attacks (spam), only registered users are allowed to contribute and to edit.
There are two main reasons people are encouraged to register:
General benefits
The free account gives you many benefits, including editing options and user preferences. One handy feature is the watchlist, which makes it easier for you to track changes to pages you are interested in. Another is the ability to move or rename a page. Do not move pages simply by copying and pasting content to a title you believe is correct for an article; this method destroys the edit history. See Vincentian Encyclopedia:Tutorial (Keep in mind).
An unregistered user is identified by his or her machine's IP address. Your computer's IP address can sometimes be used to find information about you, so registering increases your privacy by hiding it.
Finally, only registered users are allowed to become administrators,(AKA sysops).
Perceived benefits
Many Vincentian Encyclopedia users consider registering to indicate a greater willingness by you to stand behind your edits, and your comments on discussion pages. This means your contributions to articles and discussion pages will generally be given more weight, at least when you make the entries while logged in.
How to register
To register you can click the Log in link at the top right corner of any page.
