1642: At the end of the conference for Daughters of Charity about service of the poor and sick, St. Vincent prayed: "I beg You God, source of charity, give me the grace of learning how to serve the Poor, corporally and spiritually sick in Your spirit and perfect example".
1757: Fr Poiret is deceased in Saint Cyr. He was 17th Director of Daughters of Charity from 1744 to 1757.
1892: In Smyrna, Turkey, in French Navy Hospital dies Fr François Elluin. For years he was navy chaplain. In 1845 he came to Smyrna to teach rhetorics in the Collège de la Propagande.
1894: Brother Joseph Génin dies in the Motherhouse. For 40 years from his vows he was a porter in the mother house. He was engaged in supplies for missions, too. Thanks to his activity Jean Gabriel Perboyre could start his apostolate in China and various temples, colleges and hospitals could be constructed in Persia, Syria and Lebanon, Abyssinia, Greece and China.
