1667: Fr Jean de Horgny, director of Daughters of Charity since May 1660 died. Born in 1617, entered the Congregation of the Mission in 1647. He had the privilege of attending Mr Vincent at the time of his death. Fr Jean Gicquel was appointed to replace him and due to his health he left the post in the end of 1672.
1679: In Paris, the first Sexennial Assembly has closed. After it, fifteen other meetings of this kind would take place in the history of the Small Company. The last of them took place from July 26 to 30, 1939. And future sexennial Assemblies were abolished. However, to avoid too long time to lag between two General Assemblies, it was decided that the General Assembly would take place every six years since then.
1698: The Chancellor of the Cathedral of Meaux, Director of the Hotel Dieu de Mitry Mory signed with Mother Juliana Laboue and three superiors the contract establishing two sisters for the care of sick of the parish and school girls. It was clear that Daughters would have a shelter in the building of the Hotel Dieu.
1737: Superior General, Fr. Couty sent a long circular to the Daughters of Charity in which he recounted the ceremonies of the canonization of Saint Vincent by Pope Clement XII. He asked the sisters to celebrate this holiday in their churches or chapels and announced that a solemn octave would begun in Paris on upcoming September 24. 1885: In Rome, Pope Leo XIII approves the decision of the Propaganda erecting a new Apostolic Vicariate in China: the one of Jiangxi East. This new division includes four prefectures and ten thousand Christians. The administration is entrusted to Fr. Casimir Vie CM, who received the title of bishop of Métellopolis, ancient capital of Phrygia.
1911: Fr. Stéphane Serpette dies in Barceau de St. Vincent de Paul. He was fifth superior there. Born in Picardy, student of Montdidier he arrived to St. Vincent's birthplace in 1871 as a deacon. And he never moved from there. In 1894 he became the superior at Barceau.
