1581: According to biography by Pierre Coste, Vincent de Paul is born in Pouy, near Dax (Coste, I, p.18)
1816: In Paris. Fr Dominique-François Hanon, Vicar General from 1807, died. Born in 1757 in Saint-Pol-sur-Mer, near Dunkirk in diocese of Arras he enters the Congregation at Saint Lazare on October 20, 1772. In the age of 23 he starts his career in the seminary in Metz teaching philosophy and theology. When in 1790 Cardinal Louis Joseph de Montmercy-Laval, bishop of Metz fled the country for exile he left Fr Hanon as administrator of the diocese. On October 14, 1807 pope Pio VII appoints him Vicar General of the Congregation with a range of ordinary and extraordinary powers.
1864: Berceau-de-Saint-Vincent. Fr. Jean-Baptiste Étienne, cardinal Francis August Donnet, archbishop of Bordeaux, twelve bishops, five hundred priests, public authorities and thirty thousand pilgrims inaugurate chapel commemorating birth place of Vincent de Paul.
