1762. XIII General Assembly opens in Paris with 36 delegates. New Superior General -- Fr. Antoine Jacquier -- is elected. Fathers Alexis Pertuisot (superior of Cahors and Visitor of Guyenne), Jean Moliner (superior fo Figeac) and Antoine Holleiville (superior of Toul and Visitor of Champagne) become Assistants together with Fr Joseph Testori already in position.
1862. In Tehran Fathers Jean Baptiste Varèse CM and Louis Plagnard CM open College of St. Louis with 15 students at the beginning. Due to efforts of other confreres Fr Sontag, Fr.Guillaume Delteil and Fr. Aristide Chatelet the college develops very well despite governmental actions and wars. In 1952 there are already 530 students there. When Fr. Varese and Plagnard arrived to Tehran, they rented a small house wher one of the chambers was turned to Mary Immaculate chapel. One could count up to 80 Catholics, mainly Europeans then.
1865. A huge fire in the Provincial House of Daughters of Charity in Turkey turns the building and stables into ruins. 4 children are carbonized. 120 orphans and 40 Sisters are on the street with no place to live. Daughters of Charity arrived to Turkey in 1839. The province is erected in 1864.
1940 This is reckoned as the approximate date of the death of the Vincentian Bishop Tch'en, assassinated while returning from administering the sacraments to a dying man. The Chinese boy who had accompanied him was killed while trying to defend the Bishop.
