Vincent speaks with those candidates who are about to be ordained for the diocese of Beauvais and after this dialogue gives them a retreat. This marked the beginning of his work of Retreats for the Ordinands.

Vincent writes to Mazarin and in this way we see the subtle ways in which bishoprics were bought and sold — in this specific case Vincent acts as an intermediary.

Vincent writes to Jean Barreau and Firmin Get and through these letters we see some of the economic difficulties that Vincent and the other missionaries had to confront in their work for the freedom of the prisoners in Argel.

On the Feast of the Exultation of the Holy Cross, Fr. Etienne blesses the chapel of the Passion in the motherhouse of the Congregation. This is done in recognition of the protection that the Company has received through Scapular of the Passion which was revealed to Sister A. Andriveau.
