Jozef Mazurek
Józef Mazurek CM (Yoo-zev Ma-zoo-reck) was born on February 15, 1933 in ?yszkowice, Proszowice county, near Krakow. He was received to the Congregation of the Mission in the Province of Poland on September27, 1950. Ordained priest on June 24, 1956, after completing theological studies in Kraków (Instytut Teologiczny Ksi??y Misjonarzy). At first he was sent to continue studies at Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski (KUL).
In 1959 assigned to Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Krakow, where he ministered in the academic campus among students. In 1964 moved to [ http://www.nmp.prv.pl/ Our Lady of Rosary parish in Pabianice], central Poland, where he stayed until 1968. Next to years spent in St. Nicolas Parish in Skwierzyna, Western Poland. From 1970 to 1972 he was assigned to the Holy Cross Parish in Warsaw to work among students. Next from 1972 to 1983 he was involved in preaching popular missions and retreat all across Poland very eagerly.
In 1983 returned to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Kraków and helped in various ministries there. In 1991 he was appointed chaplain in nearby (right across the parish church) Police Department Hospital (Szpital MSWiA). He was involved in this ministry until death. Died on April 20, 2009. Burried in his family parish in Koniusza, near Krakow on April 24, 2009.
