International Project Services

International Project Services was created on May 18, 2004 by the Daughters of Charity as a means of helping poorer provinces where the Daughters minister.

The project helps with writing grant proposals and soliciting gifts from corporations and individuals. Between September 2004 and March 2007, the IPS Office received 205 projects from 42 Daughter of Charity Provinces in 41 countries. By July 2007, 122 of these projects had been funded.

Some of the funded projects are:

• Model homes in “El Porvenir” village, the poorest area of Cochabamba, Bolivia. Ninety families live in the village. Ten homes have been constructed for the neediest families; others in the area are able to construct homes modeled after these.

• Dentistry equipment for the care of orphans with HIV+ in Casa Rosada Shelter, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

• The Social Center, Rwanda, which serves the destitute and malnourished by providing food, soap, clothes, blankets, and medicines; transporting the sick; teaching the people how to tend livestock; helping pay rent for fields used by the people to grow food.
