1820. Francis Regis Clet martyred by strangled in the city of Outchangfou, a capital of Houkouang province in China. Born on August 19, 1748 in Grenoble. Entered the Congregation of the Mission in Lyon on March 6, 1769, ordained in 1773. In 1791 departed to China, where he arrived on October 10. Detained on June 6, 1819 i Kinkiakang held in the prison in Outchangfou. Beatified on May 27, 1900 and canonized on October 1, 2000.

1869. In Tchengtingfu, Fr. Jean Baptiste Anouilh, Apostolic Vicar of western Tchely died of tyfoid fever. He came from Pamiers. Arrived to China in 1847 together with first Daughters of Charity. After four years became coadjutor to Msgr. José Marcial Mouly, the apostolic vicar of Beijing. In 1858, after division of vicariate of Beijing, he became a vicar of South-East part with only 9 priests who avoided persecutions and the territory 150 miles long and 100 miles wide.

1918. Fr Francis Verdier becomes Vicar General of the Congregation of the Mission.
