Six missionaries and 10 Daughters of Charity meet in Saint-Lazare to discuss the establishment of four Internal Seminaries in France to facilitate the formation of the Daughters of Charity.

Fr. J. Placiard, vicar general of the Congregation of the Mission and the Daughters of Charity dies. This sudden death shocked the members of the both Congreations who were aware of the delicate political situation in France. Fr. Placiard was 51 years old and had been in the position of Vicar General for less than a year.
