Mother Marie-Anne, NDSC

Mother Marie-Anne (1851 - February 18, 1941) began in 1922 to work toward the establishment of the Religieuses de Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur after it was determined that a French-speaking novitiate in the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception would no longer be available to young women from Acadia, a French-speaking region of Canada.

At the order's first general chapter on February 17, 1924, Sister Marie Anne was elected Superior General. She continued in that role until 1936.
