Le Pouy is the village nearest Ranquines, the hamlet where it is believed that Vincent de Paul was born in 1581. Since 1828 the village has been called Saint-Vincent-de-Paul. Pouy continues to be the name by which another community located about 100 miles to the east in the Hautes-Pyrénées is known.

Today Saint-Vincent-de-Paul has about 2100 residents. It is in the Arrondissement de Dax, Landes, Aquitaine, in southwest France, about three miles northwest of Dax (see MapQuest
