Bruce Krause

Bruce Krause, C.M. is a native of Fairhope, Alabama and has lived most of his life in Alabama and Georgia, including nineteen years as a priest from 1986 to 2005 mostly in East Central Alabama. 

He was ordained to the priesthood in 1982, and is a member of the Eastern Province of the Congregation of the Mission with its mother house in Philadelphia, PA.  During those years just mentioned and for much of his priesthood, he has been in parish ministry.  He first met the Vincentians in 1965 when he and his family moved to West Point, GA and attended Holy Family Church in the adjoining town of Lanett, Alabama.  He would later attend Auburn University as an undergraduate student of foreign languages (German and French), where he again met the Vincentians who staffed the nearby parish and campus ministry.  It was the zeal and enthusiasm of the Vincentian priests and Trinitarian sisters who influenced Bruce’s decision to enter the seminary.  He attended Mary Immaculate Seminary in Northampton, PA. 

After ordination he was assigned to a parish in Germantown, Philadelphia, where he served for four years prior to his transfer to Alabama in 1986. 

Fr. Bruce received a doctor of ministry degree, in 1996, from Emory University, in Atlanta, that focused on developing parish-based mission efforts among the poor.  He has worked closely with the St. Vincent de Paul Society at the regional and national levels for more than fifteen years.  He has taught courses at St. John’s University and the College of St. Elizabeth.  He currently serves in campus ministry and is the mission officer at Niagara University. 

His interests include golf, photography, classical guitar, travel, and reading.  He has one younger brother who is married, and he and his wife have two grown children.  They reside in Athens, GA.  His mother lives in Athens as well.
