Beth Nicol has been involved with data processing and information technology for over 30 years. A strong believer in technology not as the message, but as "servant of the message", she has experience with large academic library systems, shared resources, and open source software development. Beth was an early adopter of world wide web technology running a webserver for the Auburn University Libraries as early as 1996 as well as bringing the first iteration of FAMVIN.ORG online in June 1998. Before retiring from the Auburn University Libraries, she was actively involved with several collaborative ventures including Alabamamosaic (http://alabamamosaic.org), the MetaArchive of Southern Digital Culture (http://metaarchive.org); She continues as the webmaster for the FAMVIN websites (http://famvin.org).
