Thanks for the opportunity to share my thoughts about the image.

Everytime I view this wonderful painting I think how apt it captures Vincent's profound respect for each of his brothers and sisters. It speaks to me of the fact that this respect was not merely theoretical but very practical.

I am struck by the food for thought it provides in thinking about the Eucharist as a meal. As such it challenges me think about how welcome marginalized people feel in our sacred meal. It also challenges me to think about who I eat my meals with. Would people think to present me as sitting in the midst of the marginalized who cross my path? Do I even see these borthers and sisters.

I would appreciate hearing what thoughts other have when they look at this picture.
