'''Jesus Christ embodies the overflowing fullness of God.  He eagerly wishes to share with us this fullness.'''

Jesus goes on showing what to fulfill the commandments and go beyond the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees means.  He wants to see in us overflowing justice and love.

So, Jesus teaches that justice is not only seeing to it that punishment fits the crime.  It is withholding just punishment even and not returning evil for evil.  One is to give in to another’s demands and give up more than what another asks for.

For Jesus, too, love is more than just love of one’s own kin, neighbor or countryman.  It is also love of enemies.  For our love should be overflowing, as the love of our heavenly Father.  He is kind to the bad and the good.

Yes, Jesus wants us to be children of our heavenly Father, bearing his likeness.  And it is not so much that he wants more for our heavenly Father.  After all, our Father in heaven is overflowing fullness.  He does not need or want anything more for himself.

Rather, Jesus wants more for us.  So does our heavenly Father.  For we are not yet whole and need many things to reach our fulfillment.

But if we are to learn from Jesus what fulfillment is, we must understand that it means self-emptying.  More means less.  Loving us to the end, he lays down his life for us.  That is to say, he empties himself and becomes obedient to death on the cross.  And so, he truly embodies the overflowing fullness of the God who does not spare his own Son (Rom 8, 31-32).  Rather, God gives him up and hands him over for us all.  To share, then in the fullness of God is to be like his Son (Rom 8, 29).  To become a fool, so as to become wise.

'''Jesucristo personifica la plenitud superabundante de Dios.  Desea él enormemente compartir con nosotros esa plenitud.'''

Sigue explicando Jesús lo que quiere decir cumplir plenamente los preceptos y ser mejor que los escribas y fariseos.  Quiere ver en nosotros la justicia superabundante y el amor ilimitado.

Así pues, Jesús enseña que la justicia se trata no solo de procurar que el castigo sea proporcional a la ofensa.  La justicia significa incluso dejar de imponer un castigo justo y no devolver mal por mal.  Hasta hay que ceder a las exigencias del otro y darle más de lo que él reclama.

Según Jesús también, amar no es cuestión solo de amar a un hermano, pariente o compatriota.  Se ha de amar también al enemigo.  Pues nuestro amor debe ser superabundante como el amor de nuestro Padre celestial que es bondadoso con los malos y los buenos.

Quiere, sí, Jesús que seamos hijos de nuestro Padre celestial, asemejados a él, que de tal palo, tal astilla.  Y no es que busque él algo más para nuestro Padre celestial.  Después de todo, Dios es la plenitud superabundante.  No necesita ni busca ninguna otra cosa más que le perfeccione.

Lo que, más bien, quiere Jesús es que seamos nosotros más de lo que somos.  Lo mismo quiere para nosotros nuestro Padre celestial.  Pues carecemos de integridad y tenemos necesidad de muchas cosas para conseguir la autorrealización o la plenitud.

Pero si hemos de aprender de Jesús lo que es la plenitud, tendremos que comprender que la plenitud significa vaciamiento.  Más quiere decir menos.  Amándonos hasta el fin, hasta el extremo, Jesús da su vida por nosotros.  En otras palabras, se vacía de sí mismo y se hace obediente hasta la muerte de cruz.  Así personifica él verdaderamente la plenitud superabundante de Dios.  Éste no perdona a su propio Hijo, sino que lo entrega a la muerte por nosotros (Rom 8, 31-32).  Participar, entonces, de la plenitud de Dios es conformarnos a la imagen de su Hijo (Rom 8, 29).  Es hacernos necios para llegar a ser sabios.
