NOTES OF THE TRANSLATORS

  1. Except where the context requires a more restrictive meaning, the terms “member” and confrere” designate every member of the Congregation of the Mission, that is, all priests and candidates for the priesthood, and all brothers and candidates for the brotherhood, from the time of admission into the internal seminary.
  2. The Latin word “finis” has been translated “purpose.”
  3. The Latin word “Visitator” has been translated “provincial.”
