Le Pouy is the village nearest [[Ranquines]], the hamlet where it is believed that [[Vincent de Paul]] was born in 1581. Since 1828 the village has been called Saint-Vincent-de-Paul. Pouy continues to be the name by which another community located about 100 miles to the east in the Hautes-Pyrénées is known.

Today Saint-Vincent-de-Paul has about 2100 residents. It is in the Arrondissement de Dax, Landes, Aquitaine, in southwest France, about three miles northwest of Dax (see [http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?latlongtype=decimal&latitude=43.7477777777778&longitude=-.9975&zoom=8/ MapQuest]
