Henzmann Paul

Paul Gustave Henzmann CM was born on December 1922 in Däniken, Switzerland. After cempleting secondary education in Cuvry he enetered Congregation of the Mission on October 15, 1940 in Prime-Combe. He took the vows on November 7, 1942 in Grau-Roi. Priestly ordinartions received on April 5, 1947 in Dax.

Afterwards he was sent to Rome to continue his studies from 1947 to 1949. Then, he became professor in the Major Seminary in Verdun. He held this post until 1967. Then he was transferred to Villebon-sur-Yvette, Vincentian formation center and stayed to 1971 there.

From 1971 to 1991 Paul Henzmann held position of Secretary General of the Congregation of Mission in Rome. After completing this assignment, he moved to Paris and took the post of Archivist at Maison-Mère. He held this position almost until his last days.

He died on Sunday, July 12, 2009, in 69th year of vocation and 62nd of priesthood in the Cochin Hospital in Paris soon after being taken there in emergency. Funeral service was celebrated on July 15, 2009 in the St. Vincent de Paul Chapel, Maison-Mère, with Very Rev. Ellie Delplace CM, the Visitor of Province of Paris, giving the homily. He was burried in Montparnasse Cemetery in Paris same day.
